Memorial Biography

Emily Jane Tyler, 1985-2021

Beloved Daughter, Sister, and Aunt

Emily Tyler, age 36, passed away on March 13, 2021, at Beaumont Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan.

Emily was born January 26th, 1985, in Norwich, Connecticut, to David Tyler and Colleen Stringer. Upon graduating from Norwich Free Academy in 2003, she joined the U.S. Marine Corps. Throughout her seven years of service working in Avionics, she performed two overseas deployments, resided in Japan, and rose to the rank of Marine Corps Sergeant. While enlisted, she ran the first Marine Corps marathon overseas in Iraq. Following her dedicated years of service, she volunteered at her local VA hospital, received her Associate’s Degree from Henry Ford College, and was interested in pursuing social work.

Emily was an avid animal lover and naturalist, with a strong passion for photography and art. Her artwork is currently displayed in the Detroit VA Hospital. She was like a second mom to her sister Heather’s children, and was genuinely honored to be her nephew Cameron’s godmother.

Emily is survived by her mother and stepfather, Colleen and Ronald Stringer; her sisters, Heather Tyler and Mary Riley; her brother, Jeremy Tyler; her niece, Hailey; her nephews, Cameron, David, Michael, Ethan, and Carter; and her two fur babies, Tony and Gertrude. She is preceded in death by her father, David Tyler.

Services will be held privately. Donations can be made on her behalf, to Beauty’s Haven Farm & Equine Rescue, Inc. www.bhfer.org/donate.

Those we love don’t go away,

They walk beside us everyday,

Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Still loved, still missed and very dear.
